Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S. - This Tuesday, a little before 10AM, the pirate ship Sunderland began to take on water in the marina. The ship is owned by Maritime Enterprise. The ship is used for sightseeing tours together with other similar ships and was tied up at the base pier.

That POS was an accident waiting to happen. It's a good thing that it sank at the dock instead of on one of it's booze cruises.
Sinking "at" the dock, would appear to say much for the vessel's sea worthiness
Suicide Hot line, Pete here, please hold
Yesterday's Tribuna de Los Cabos reports that the Sunderland was of foreign registry and the owners had cancelled that and applied for Mexican registry. The Harbor Master said they inspected the ship recently in conjunction with the change to Mexican registry, but the ship failed inspection. The hull was taking on too much water. Although there are bilge pumps, they said it was taking on too much water and they would not issue a Mexican registration. At the time the ship sunk while tied up to the dock, it had not sailed for 15 to 20 days. They assume the bilge pumps either failed, or were overwhelmed by the amount of water taken on.
