American man commits suicide in Puerto Vallarta

Sobre lo anterior, se conoció que fue alrededor de las 13:00 horas, cuando se informó sobre una persona sin vida en el interior del hospital Ameri Med, por lo que se requería del agente del Ministerio Público.

La esposa del ahora occiso, identificó el cuerpo de quien en vida respondía al nombre de Jason John Thodos de 53 años de edad, quien era originario del estado de Illinois y se encontraba hospedado en conocido hotel de Marina Vallarta.

Se dijo que en compaña de su concubina, llegaron a esta ciudad desde el pasado martes y se hospedaron en ese hotel, y que el domingo se le perdió de vista y fue cuando se arrojó del piso 13. Lo llevaron rápidamente a un hospital, pero las heridas que presentaba eran mortales de necesidad y ya no recobró el conocimiento.

También se dijo que este era una persona depresiva, y que estuvo laborando durante 25 años en una empresa y como lo jubilaron, sólo le dieron tres meses de indemnización, por lo cual estaba muy mal financieramente por lo que decidió quitarse la vida.

Regarding the foregoing, around 1PM it was reported there was a dead person in the AmeriMed hospital, which required the presence of a ministerial agent.

The wife of the dead man, identified the body of Jason John Thodos, 53-years old, who was originally from the state of Illinois and was staying in Puerto Vallarta in the hotel Marina Vallarta.

It was reported that, along with his wife, he arrived last Tuesday and stayed at that hotel. On Sunday, she lost sight of him and this is when he jumped from the 13th floor. He was quickly taken to a hospital, but his injuries were fatal and he never regained consciousness.

It was also reported that the deceased was depressed, and that he had worked for 25 years at the same business and they laid him off with only three months pay. As such, he was in poor financial condition and decided to take his life.

I've been saying all along, Mexico is where you go to die. But it can't be the water. Nobody drinks it.

Sounds like his 13 floor high dive into the pool was a "fail".

I knew this man and although I do not agree with his choice I also do not appreciate the above comments. Until you know someone's pain and mental illnesses you should not judge. The details above were also inaccurate in regards to the circumstances. Try to remember there are grieving family and friends for this man.

Sorry for your loss. The comments may appear rude but there is some history behind all this. If you read through this website a little more, you will find instances were seeming normal people have suddenly committed "suicide" in Mexico. Just a few weeks ago, there was a brilliant college student with no known negative history who jumped from a hotel balcony.

What is going on in many cases, is the Mexican bartenders are drugging unsuspecting tourists with rohypnol so they can be robbed without any resistance. An accomplice follows the unsuspecting tourist out of the bar and robs/rapes them. Occasionally a drugged victim exhibits bizarre behavior and jumps or drowns himself.
