Housing costs in Tijuana increase 10%
#1
TIJUANA, Baja California - May 17, 2018 - The cost of housing in Tijuana recorded the largest increase in the last five years, reaching 9.7% when compared to 2017, and this exceeds the national average, which was an increase of 8.68%.

Specialist in the sector report the increase is due to external factors, such as the price of the dollar, and new development methods, which are now intra-urban.

According to information from the Federal Mortgage Society, housing prices in Baja California run from 383,000 to 857,000 pesos (US$19,500 to US$43,500).

When you look at the real housing prices in Mexico, one can begin to understand why developers want to build high rise condos along the coast. They will sell them to Gringos for US$250,000+ and reap huge profits. The per unit building costs are not much different than building a single-family home. And when they are done, the builders keep control of the Homeowners' Association which provides a nice annual perpetual cash flow.
