The first significant storm of the winter 2017-18 season will develop rain and winds on Monday. A strong cold front and upper level trough will slam into Southern California on Tuesday bringing periods of heavy rain, high wind and high mountain wet snow. The storm will exit by Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The heavy rainfall on Tuesday could cause urban or small stream flooding along with possible debris flows on coastal slopes. The winds will be strongest in the mountains and desert slopes from Monday through Tuesday afternoon with local wind damage possible. Expect rough seas and high winds in the coastal waters.
